Diversity Day makes it clear that recognising, appreciating and including diversity in the world of work also helps companies to better manage future issues and inspire employees. Promoting openness and appreciation of a diverse team increases employee satisfaction, loyalty and therefore performance.  

To mark Diversity Day on 31 May 2022, Soluware organised an international lunch with contributions from the team on the topic of diversity. Employees brought along their favourite food from one country and designed posters. From Swabian potato salad and Thai noodle salad to desserts from India and Pakistan, everyone was delighted.  

Catrinel Szilagyi, Team Leader HR at the Schulz Group, says ‘You can taste diversity at our company! A team lunch is the perfect setting for living diversity and raising awareness of the different nations in the workplace. Today, everyone has brought along a piece of their cultural identity in the form of a typical national dish. A culinary exchange that strengthens cohesion and mutual appreciation in a diverse team.  

‘Diversity is what makes us Soluware,’ says Amelie Schulz, Managing Director of Schulz Group GmbH and Soluware GmbH. ‘Working in a team from different cultural backgrounds such as Europe, Eastern Europe and the Far East with different approaches is an enrichment for us and our customers. In the IT sector, diversity also means achieving a high proportion of women. We have over 30% women in our team, which is well above the national average of 13-17%’.

Since June, employees at Soluware GmbH have also been able to order a JobRad. For Managing Director Amelie Schulz, the advantages are obvious. ‘Many of our employees really enjoy travelling by bike. We provide weather-protected parking facilities for the bikes and changing rooms for all colleagues. For us, the JobRad programme is a sustainable and attractive way to further encourage our employees’. 

Fabian Meyer, software developer, is delighted: ‘With the bike, I can do something for my fitness in the morning. What's more, you can use the bike anytime and anywhere, even privately, so nothing stands in the way of a bike ride at the weekend. I've also been able to choose a bike that I wouldn't have bought without the attractive financing model, because it's now up to 40% cheaper for me compared to a conventional purchase.’  

For software developer Mahesh Paka, the sporting and health aspects take centre stage. ‘Most of our work is done sitting down and commuting by bike is a great way to balance this out. Of course, we also signed up for the Ravensburg city bike ride and cycled a considerable number of kilometres.’  

Jochen Schaz, Head of Software Development, was also one of the first to choose his new e-bike from an authorised specialist dealer. ‘The process was really easy, I registered online, chose a mountain bike from the dealer and indicated that the whole thing was being organised via JobRad. The dealer did the rest for me’. 

From the end of June to mid-July, the city of Ravensburg took part in the annual city cycling event, the municipal initiative to promote climate-friendly cycling. For 21 days, colleagues logged every kilometre they cycled and raced each other head-to-head. The Alpaka Racing Team from Soluware GmbH also did well in the overall rankings for the municipality of Ravensburg, finishing in the upper midfield.
